One of the things I like about birds is how they adapt to their surroundings. Such as this gull…

And I hope whoever lives here didn't suffer interference on their television…
Collared doves

Herons, even when they are in a devilish mood, prefer to stick to what they know… trees.

And as for badgers, they are perched on the precipice of a cull (which could start within days), so an urgent reminder (if you are in the UK) to sign the e-petition calling for a halt. It's bad science, bad for wildlife and won't curb bovine TB. Many of the culled badgers are likely to be the healthy ones and the disruption to territorial activity (perturbation) may even spread the risk of bovine TB. In other words the cull could make things worse not better. We need to put resources into oral vaccines which will deliver long-term, sustainable results; not into unscientific culls. More information on the Team Badger campaign site.

Please make sure you sign the 'Stop the Badger Cull' e-petition. 100,000 signatures are needed to trigger a debate in Parliament.

  1. Gulls and NO FISHING signs 😆

  2. Nice shots, Words. Unfortunately, I'm not really eligible to sign the petition.

  3. Funny pictures :hat:

We have Jackdaws who love to launch themselves off our television arial with an audible 'BOING!'. It's so funny when we're watching the telly and you know they're have a great fun using it like a diving board! 😀

  5. Adapt to signs, perhaps, but not likely to obey them 😉

  6. Darko, I've been getting shots of the heron in the same pose! :jester:

  7. Sami, thanks!

  8. Adele, recognition comes before compliance. They're learning :right:

  9. Gaina, that sounds great fun. Unfortunately our aerial is located inside our roof space so we don't have that excitement. We just get birds gathering on the telephone line which carries our internet connection.

  10. dW, I'm sure the petition will reach the required 100,000 signatures, probably during this coming weekend. All it means is that Parliament has to consider a debate on it, but that is now very likely. It's just one part of the campaign, but an important component.
