Nothing but rain today so I was happy to have to venture no further than the back door to get these pictures during a brief respite in the weather this evening.

Shutterbug had wandered down from the far end of the garden, and for once hung around rather than disappearing through the fence/down the side/over the wall or any of his usual exit points. In return we gave him a small treat (following which he disappeared through a fence. 😉

The relatively mild temperatures, combined with 'damp' conditions also brought out a lone newt. It was perched on a wall, but quickly scampered under some rotting leaf matter (not before I'd managed a single frame).

And that really is that for the day.

  1. He looks good even when he's all bedraggled!
What is that treat? It looks like an underripe tomato.

  2. dW, it's a hen's egg 😉 They do rather like them.

  3. Oh, yes … the colour put me off. Here it's nearly impossible to find brown eggs. They were common enough in my youth.

    You are spoiling him :p

  5. Just giving him a nice dose of healthy fats for his coat, and a bit of protein. I don't know how much of the shell he'd eat, but it wouldn't hurt him.

  6. Sami, well Shutterbug is the honoured patriarch of the group so he deserves a treat every now and then. 😉

  7. dW, they tend to leave the shell. They carry the egg of very carefully before breaking into it. One of our previous foxes used to climb trees to get at pigeon eggs (smaller, and softer shells).

  8. Egg for him and peanuts for the rest of them 😛

  9. Darko, a special friend 😉
