Not only did the trains run on time today, but glancing out of the window as the early mists began to clear I saw a sun dog high in the distance.

If you're not familiar with this phenomenon (it's roughly in the centre of the shot), it's caused by ice crystals and presents a 'mini' rainbow effect. It usually only last a few minutes, but is quite common.

later in the day, the sun was shining, and I headed back to the park. Plenty of bird life, including the massed London pigeons.

Even the squirrels can't compete with them when it comes to food!

The whooper swans were about…

As were the pochards…

Along the edge of the water there were coots (I have a strange affinity with these birds 😉 )

And of course, the squirrels.

  1. Lovely shots! Love this squirrel! I also have an affinity for the Coots too. (Maybe cause I keep being called an old one!)

  2. Drops of water on that swan… Nice photo

  3. You just can't escape the rats – Norwegian, busy tailed, and now flying. 😉

  4. Pigeon attack :yikes:

    Lovely shot of the swan!

  5. Mick, all these poor maligned creatures. 😆 The only ones that actually behave themselves are the rats… the squirrels and pigeons are everywhere and all over people 😀

  6. Adele, fortunately the pigeons seem to be able to avoid hitting anyone, though it can be a close run thing. I also took a few shots of the swan with its head under the water, but couldn't really get a decent angle. I may try again.

  7. Robin, the squirrel was very inquisitive. As for the coots, there's an old saying about hair-styles which is my link 😉

  8. Erwin, thanks!

  9. Darko, thanks. I was pleased with that shot.

  10. Excellent pictures once again

  11. Thanks Sami!

  12. amazing shot of the whooper…be very very proud!! 🙂

  13. Chris, thanks! But it's too easy to get shots like these in the park.
