A short sequence taken today (in rare sunshine) of an adult and juvenile mute swan just… swanning around. Juvenile first.

There were some bystanders… a heron

And a pair of Canada geese.

  1. Nice swans, Words. When aren't there bystanders?

  2. Sometimes I wonder what herons think about all day as they stand on the riverbank watching the world swim by…

  3. On a way back from Seattle couple of weeks ago, we've seen a huge flock of swans on a field. I don't think I've ever seen so many of them in only one place.
And of course, Canada geese 😀

  4. Adele, I suspect most of it is spent dreaming of a fish supper :chef:

  5. dW, thanks! The herons are the great bankside watchers.

  6. Darko, I've never seen a huge flock of swans. It must be quite spectacular. You need some English geese over there 😉

  7. I believe Eva has posted some large flights of swans … from her old home, before she moved.

  8. so the pictures you see of swans looking "dirty" are really juveniles with brownish here and there? obviously the startling white is the adult. and I love herons! Saw one ONCE on the Black River back in the late 90s, from a boat in the late evening. Here in Port Huron, Mich.

  9. Kathy, yes the white one is the adult. They make it there eventually.
