The old fox has been paying fleeting visits this week, but tonight he kept still long enough for me to get a better look at his coat to see how he's recovering from the mange. His tail is still fairly bony, but the covering of hair on his flanks is now quite extensive, and the striations on his side have diminished.

You can see the improvement in these two photos taken a month apart:

And a more flattering view from tonight

  1. oh no!

    what happened to him?? :worried:

  2. mange huh?

it looks bad cos he went bald. i know a wee bit about mange. pesky irritation, they are. my poor doggie got them.

    i know, i know… it's not the same but it's irritating anyway… 😡

  3. He got mange. It's very common, but the treatment works so he'll be looking fine again soon.

  4. If it''s untreated it will eventually kill the fox. But we caught this quite early so he should be ok now. We just have to wait for his coat to re-grow.

It's the same as mange in dogs, but we spot it in dogs much more quickly and they aren't at the same risk of other infections. I hope your dog's ok now.

  5. Its good he is getting better, i think hes saying thanks for treating me. 🙂

  6. my dog's getting it on-and-off… mange was a secondary condition. he's skin problems are heredity… 😥

but i won't trade in my dog for anything in this world! i'd rather have a "problem furkid" than a different furkid…

i  that furry tyke too much.

it looks bad on Dog Fox cos he lost almost all his hind furs… hope he gets better soon… :worried:

  7. He's making a great recovery – your persistance is paying off wonderfully  🙂
