A simple fox-laden post tonight. Shy Boy appeared in the middle of the evening and proceeded to display a range of typical behaviours, including the classic leap that foxes make during hunting. I suspect his target in these shots was nothing more than a grasshopper or moth. I had the 70-300 lens on the camera and for some of the shots simply couldn't get quite enough distance between me and the fox. Anyway, these are the results, starting with a portrait of the star himself.

This first one caught me unawares!

I timed this one slightly better, but I'm still too close.

Just about right, but not a full leap!

The height of this jump caught me out.

And what better after all that exercise than a cooling drink at the local watering hole.

  1. I've always loved the "fox jump" … it's both effective and comical.

nice captures! and that last pose 😀 cute.

  3. 😆 Funny shots 😀

  4. dW, it's one of my favourite fox traits. I could have done with having a shorter lens on the camera though.

  5. Jill, thanks! I liked that last shot too. 😀

  6. Sami, thanks!

  7. Nice to catch the leaps but the last shot is a classic 😀

  8. Adele, I'd wandered up the garden to see where he'd got to and spotted him like that. Too good a pose to miss!
