On my way to work this morning I stopped off at one of my favourite local spots. The Downs were shrouded in a heavy mist, one of the more constant weather features of living in the hills.

Few birds were about, but I did glimpse a lone yellowhammer.

And, through a gap in the hedge a couple of sheep…

The day brightened, but I didn't get a chance for more pictures until tonight.

The foxes were evasive, but I did glimpse a badger in the corner of the garden. Unfortunately it also glimpsed me and was gone before I could contemplate a photo. Maybe next time 😉

  1. Because I felt no better,Words.
Yesterday we had a lot of fog.
If the sheep Barber made a mistake?
The sheep are only half-shaved. :eyes:

  2. Words, nice shots! The sheep are certainly scruffy!

  4. I love the misty mornings. Visibility was very low here at dawn, and Khamsin was staring out into the mist, trying to work out where all the other dogs and walkers were!

Nice shots of the amphibians! 🙂

  5. Steffi, I think the farmer does that deliberately. We're getting close to lambing season.

  6. Marilyn, thanks! The first shot is one of those spots that I've photographed in all sorts of weather over the years. Always the same shot, but always different depending on the time of year.

  7. Robin, I was making do with what I could get given the weather. The sheep are part of a small breeding flock.

  8. Adele, I'm not sure I love the misty mornings except on those days when the mist drops into the valley. Then it can be quite spectacular. Khamsin has certainly experienced a full range of weather in recent months!

  9. The penultimate picture is great. The frog is smiling because he has found a shelter.

  10. 7Wellis, yes that frog does look happy!

  11. Very nice! My favorite is the sheep – quite an atmosphere!

  12. Lois, thanks!
