A few more shots, taken today…
Hover-fly, natural light
Hover-fly (different species), with flash
Hawthorn shield bug, with flash
Grasshopper, with flash
Painted Lady
Garden spider, with flash
Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 200mm f/2.8L II USM. Where I used flash I relied on the pop-up unit bulit in to the camera, with the exception of the final shot which was illuminated with the Canon 430EX flash unit

29 Jul 2010I'm not really seeing any spiders at all in the house this year except multitudes of daddy-long-legs spiders. Which is actually probably why I'm not seeing the others :chef: :yuck:

29 Jul 2010We're encouraging them to set up home outside, where they're doing fine. I've just been watching a small spider defeat a wasp (I was attracted by the frantic buzzing).
Edit: on examining the photos I got, it turns out the 'wasp' was a hover fly.
