For mid-summer read 'missed summer' or even 'mist-summer'. Another dark, grey day today, punctuated by 50mph winds. Lovely!

There were some good things though, including the addition of seven new ducklings at the pond.

And here's a cute shot of one of the more established clutch of (now) 10.

Meanwhile the gull chicks are thriving on the various rooftops at work. There are at least three clutches (possibly several more I've not yet located), but the original pair remain the most convenient to photograph; plus they've just discovered that they have wings, though they don't really know what to do with them. They still seem to be figuring out the open and close mechanism.

A quiet night in the garden, if you discount the noise of the wind, so just a single shot of one of the cubs.

  1. The ducklings seem to be suffering some attrition … unavoidable, I reckon, but there still seem to be quite a few. And just as cute.
The gull chick trying to figure his wings out is amusing, and I think your fox kits are learning to pose for formal portraits.

  2. Perfect portrait of the cub!

  3. Ducklings enjoying water and, occasionally, ride 😀

  4. Darko, I love your mersanger shot. Perfect!

  5. dW, attrition is quite heavy. The clutch of 11 is now 9, and the 7 much more worryingly appears to be down to 2 🙁 It's a pretty rough world they're in.

The gulls and foxes are doing fine though, but then they are the predators.

  6. Adele, thanks! They're being very cooperative at the moment.

  7. Thanks 😀
