Snow…

Well the promised snow has arrived. It's been falling for several hours and looks like continuing through the night. The winds are quite strong as well, which will in all probability cause drifts across the roads around here, many of which cut across open fields.
The snow begins to settle

Now falling more heavily

Which makes it all the more odd that lunchtime was beautiful. Cold, but the sun was out. As was an uncommonly bold woodpecker.
Green Woodpecker (male)

It's calming down outside now. The snow is pristine. The foxes will leave their tracks later.

Camera note: the snow was photographed with the Canon 40D and EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens, with flash. The woodpecker was caught in the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

I think i found Fox tracks in the snow Words, they go in a straight line dont they? and it was crossing the road and didnt have footprints next to them so cant have been a pet dog.

I Took photos of them too, might put them on before i leave for work, it looks like Sussex got the worst hit in the south.

Take care going to work, hope you will get there and back safely 🙂

Mark, I'm not going to risk the car and public transport here isn't running (not that there is any where I am!). The campus is closed at the moment, so it's a day at home by the look of it.

Neil, I just took a look at your shots. Excellent! It seems to be a good time of year for them. Much less cautious than usual.
