This is a bit of a mixed bag… I started early, making the most of the sunshine. I'd gone to a path near some fields. It's a pretty spot, and there's usually something interesting to see.

This morning was no exception, but the highlight was undoubtedly this pretty little yellowhammer.

In stark contrast, I also saw this. On investigation it seemed to be an animal kill, possibly by a fox that had been disturbed. This is the non-gory image.

At lunchtime I went over to the dew pond to check out how the spawn was getting on.

A lone kestrel was on look-out in the distance.

And flitting along the fence which surrounds the pond, a tiny wren.

No fox update tonight. It's raining lightly, and, much as I'm tempted, I haven't got any sensible way of keeping the camera dry. Last night I got two shots… both turned out to be a cat. :cat:

  1. Wonderful photos! Some days are like that – evey one is a winner!

  2. A lot of activity. Except from the poor rat, of course….

  3. Wow! lots of frogspawn :yikes: 😆 Aww poor ratty though.

  4. Darko, early mornings are great (except for the rat).

  5. Thanks Lois, it was certainly a good day yesterday… unlike the wet drizzle of today which means I have yet to get the camera out 🙁

  6. Mark, the spawn is spectacular compared to what we get in the garden. I keep wondering if a fox was lurking while I was taking photos… it's very overgrown there, so quite possible that I could walk right past is and see nothing.

  7. Great day, Words! All the pictures are very nice as usual 😉 but my favourites here are the yellowhammer and the kestrel

  8. I think my favourite photo is the spawn, but the yellowhammer is a special sighting. I don't see them very often 😀

  9. is that the rat's tail?! ugh. I think that first picture is great! Seems to have some motion to it!, cool. And the kestrel is a lovely shot, too!
