It's been a few days (I think) since I've posted about the herring gull chicks that are happily beginning life on the roofs of the buildings at work. They're cute little things and deserve a little space among all the fox photos.

This is one of three chicks on the roof of a low building near the car park.

The second chick was playing in a drainage channel.

The third is safe and well, but is now on a lower section of roof.

The second clutch are enjoying office life.

The parents are keeping a watchful eye out for roving magpies (which are rearing chicks of their own).

Back home, the cubs still dominate the garden. This is Bully Boy, the largest of the group and a complete terror who pushes the others about relentlessly.

Here's 'Pretty', the gentlest (but also the most adventurous) on the cubs.

And to close, Pretty and Bully Boy enjoying a quick fox trot!

  2. Great fox-trot picture!

The gull chicks still look harmless 😉

  3. They are fox-trotting and singing at the same time 😀

  4. Adele, thanks! Those gull chicks will learn to steal sandwiches from the grasp of passing students soon enough 😀

  5. dW, it's been a decent year. About time after the dreadful summer we had in 2012.

  6. Darko, oddly, it's usually a silent song when they are like that!
